Mugen Euro has developed a highly-tuned version of the Honda CR-Z which aims to produce up to 200PS and 215Nm of torque by boosting the hybrid's petrol-electric powertrain
The goal of the challenge was to show hybrid cars could be fascinating to drive, by producing "Civic Type R-like" efficiency from the hybrid coupe while remaining sympathetic into the original Honda direction for the CR-Z.
"We desired a car which has genuine performance available at the touching of a switch, however is able to do as being a standard CR-Z and present good gas economy when the driver wishes, " says Colin Whittamore from Mugen Euro. "For that reason we've kept the several driving settings, and so the drivers could select 'eco' or 'normal' to change to economy and also low emissions for the regular drive, however press the Mugen button for any full-blown 'weekend warrior' settings! "
The vehicle maintains both the Honda IMA electric motor and the original 1. 5-litre i-VTEC fuel engine, which has recently been rebuilt to Mugen specification with bespoke improved and focused inside components.
